RAUL AND WEST CONTEMPORARY EDITIONS PRESENT THE CROWN COLLECTION X THE PRINCE'S TRUST
During His Majesty The King’s coronation, on Saturday 6 th May at 12pm GMT, the Internationally successful Italian artist known as Raul aka Marco Lullo, a self-confessed Anglophile, (originally from the city of Pescara, central Italy) together with his London based gallery West Contemporary Editions released 74 completely unique hand painted original works on paper, one for each year of HM The King’s life, with 15% of the total of all sales benefiting a registered charity close to both the artist and The King himself, The Princes Trust (see release for more info).

Raul works between the UK, Europe and travel is not simply afforded to him as a result of his multi-national success as one of the continent’s most impressive emerging artists - but it is in fact a part of the process itself. The artist travels the world studying different cultures in the constant research of symbolic languages, energy and meanings that he then transmits to his public through his art. Raul develops his passion for art regularly, painting on any material he finds in his innumerable travel adventures. From walls to paper, from glass to plastic, from newspaper to lined notebook used in schools, anything is possible for Raul if the surface permits it.

Raul has seen the opportunity of the forthcoming coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as an occasion to honor the United Kingdom and his relationship with one of his adopted nations, whilst creating an incredibly unique series of works that will be based around the ‘crown’ motif popularized by and that pay homage to one of the art world’s favourite sons, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and inspired as a hybrid of the artist’s signature nomadic symbols and presented in a quintessentially Keith Haring-esque style (both inspirational heroes of Raul). Fittingly, both artists are considered art royalty themselves defining the important New York art scene of the 1980’, a period and style Raul holds dear, as a child of the decade himself.

The ‘Crown’ collection will be released exclusively on Saturday 6th May at 12pm GMT via www.west-contemporary-editions.com The ‘Crown’ artworks will be available in 8 different colour editions, offering 8 different colourways of crown. A completely hand painted/drawn edition of 10 of each colour of blue, purple, pink, green, yellow, black or orange each priced at £500 + VAT, and a gold edition of just 4, each completely unique priced at £999 + VAT with a total of 74 editions all in all © // 6 files show complete blog

GIAN PAOLO BARBIERI 'UNCONVENTIONAL' - presented by 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS in Milan
From the 29th of November 2022 to the 25th of March 2023, 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS in Milan will present the exhibition ‘GIAN PAOLO BARBIERI: UNCONVENTIONAL’.

A new, 4 month-long-exhibition has just opened celebrating unexhibited and in some cases unseen works of the extraordinary, Italian fashion photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri entitled - Unconventional at the 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS gallery in Milan. In this new exhibition, the artist who won the 2018 Lucie Award for Best International Fashion Photographer, amongst many others, will reveal some of his most Intimate and spontaneous shots of models and celebrities alike who reveal before his lens their more ironic and sensual side.

The exhibition showcases intimate, spontaneous shots of models and celebrities such as Eva Herzigova, Isa Stoppi and Donatella Versace counterbalanced with iconic photographs that Barbieri – one of the most brilliant interpreters of Made in Italy – created for some of the most famous ad campaigns for Italian and international fashion brands such as Versace, Ferrè, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Armani to name a few.

The show offers the public an unprecedented look at the lesser-known artistic production of the artist, full of references to the history of art and cinematic citations. Internationally recognised for his trademark black and white shots, his subjects appear almost unattainable in their sharp sophistication. Using colour, Barbieri recounts his own personal and ironic interpretation of fashion and feminine beauty: the women in the photographs on display free themselves from the more canonical poses of fashion photography instead becoming for the occasion spokeswomen of a new kind of unconventional elegance that reveals a more nonchalant, sensual side.

The exhibition opened alongside the release in cinemas in Italy from the 17th of October (and then internationally in the spring of 2023) of the first docufilm made on the work and life of Gian Paolo Barbieri "Man and beauty", already the winner of the Public Award at the Biografilm Festival 2022 in Bologna.

Barbieri for entire decades has been one of the most influential international photographers in the field of fashion and is well known for his iconic and timeless shots. His work has graced the pages and covers of global top-tier media. His work can be found around the world on display in some of the most prestigious museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Kunstforum in Vienna, the MAMM in Moscow, and the Erarta Contemporary Art Museum in St. Petersburg, the Musée du quai Branly in Paris and the Nicola Erni Collection to name a few.

Children’s Lobby at Parliament Square launches Letters to the Earth COP26 Campaign

Children gathered at Parliament Square in London to read their Letters to the Earth, ahead of the Cop26 summit in Glasgow. Matilda Minchin and Belle Rice, 9, read their letters along with Thurston Blackburn, 12, and siblings Sarah, Hisham and Maryam. MPs Caroline Lucas and Clive Lewis talk about the importance of the CEE Bill to protect the environment and Kay Michael explains why it's important to give children a voice and platform at a young age.
As schools return and as the UK parliament resits after the summer break, the Letters to the Earth campaign calls on people nationwide to raise their voice for the protection of nature and for a safe future for every child - and to be heard by those making decisions at the next UN Climate Conference hosted in the UK this November, COP26.

In light of the UN’s IPCC ‘code red’ report on August 9th and the UNICEF report on August 19th stating the extreme risks faced by over a billion of the Earth's children from climate and nature breakdowns, the campaign team behind Letters to the Earth are mobilising those in business and politics to take heed of the young, and for schools and parents to get active.

As part of the Letters to the Earth COP26 campaign launch, children came to Parliament Square with their own ‘Letters to the Earth’ on Wednesday 8 September to ask MPs to put aside partisan differences and work together to support the Climate and Ecological Emergency (CEE) Bill ahead of its Second Reading on Friday 10 September, the same day as the scheduled second reading of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill. Additionally, on Wednesday 8 September, the government’s Environment Bill was debated in the House of Lords.

“Climate breakdown has become an urgent matter of global health, and a matter of safety for children everywhere” says Letters to the Earth Co-Founder Kay Michael. “The health of the planet and of our own future health and prosperity can no longer be separated. Writing a Letter is a way to process what is happening to the world and to express your hope and vision for a better future. It can help make sense of these extraordinary times, especially for young people, and it invites people in positions of power to explore the changes they can make. We say to MPs: join them. We hope you’ll take what they have to say to heart.”

Together, the campaign team behind the CEE Bill, Zero Hour, and Letters to the Earth encouraged children and their guardians who live outside of London to simultaneously lobby their MPs at their constituency offices on Wednesday with messages for their future.

All Letters to the Earth written can be submitted online and by post, adding to the growing collection of Letters that will be delivered at COP26 in Glasgow.
