TRD Heritage Parts Catalog - A personal, cinematic study of Toyota Performance through analog film by photographer MATTHEW JONES

"As everything speeds up, I decided to slow down." - Matthew Jones, Transportation Photographer.

Here we present his TRD Heritage Parts Catalog – a personal project by Matthew Jones, shot entirely in-camera on 120mm film, without any subsequent digital manipulation or special effects in post-production.

"I was driven by the desire to reconnect with photography as a craft. A return to the images that first drew me into automotive photography nearly 20 years ago. Shot across a studio, a track in northern Alabama, and my own carport, every frame was built as practically as possible—removing elements, reworking angles, and even setting the car in motion while stationary to capture what would otherwise be impossible in-camera," we quote Matthew Jones.

The Atlanta- and Los Angeles-based automotive photographer created this series as an homage to the tuning culture of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The images are characterized by a cinematic, high-contrast look that often combines dark shadows with vibrant highlights. He was inspired to create this independent work by an original Toyota Altezza brochure from 1999.

The transportation specialist explains: "While curating and designing the final output, I came across a 1999 Toyota Altezza brochure with a small line in Japanese. The translation: 'Altezza. Photography has never been this enjoyable.' 27 years later, I think that still holds true. Please enjoy."

Discover the world in a new light - MATTHEW JONES photographs the campaign for the all-new KIA EV5

Dynamic style. Ideal size. The Kia EV5 is a compact, all-electric SUV launching in Europe in early 2026. Matthew Jones photographed the launch campaign at various locations in Poland.

"Grateful to everyone involved in bringing this series together. Long distances, unpredictable weather, and constrained locations pushed the process in meaningful ways, and I'm grateful for the challenge." Matthew Jones, Photographer.

This portfolio series, shot in Poland for Kia Europe, documents the launch of the all-new EV5 (2026 model year). The focus is on the here and now - natural light, candid moments, and the quiet interludes that lend context and authenticity to the journey.

"Designed for modern family life, the EV5 embodies the spirit of Kia's visionary design philosophy, where robustness meets elegance and style meets spaciousness." Kia Europe.

The images are rather raw and observational, harmoniously blending understated elegance and timeless sophistication - in Matthew Jones' signature style - in the campaign.

The agency responsible for the campaign was Innocean Worldwide Europe GmbH, with Creative Director Igor Karpalov and Art Director Julia Sachse. Art buying was handled by Valeria Preisler-Vogel.

Matthew Jones is represented by the Berlin-based agency EMEIS DEUBEL.

The KIA EV4 in a modern campaign, photographed by Matthew Jones c/o EMEIS DEUBEL

Matthew Jones was selected to shoot the new KIA EV4 for the brand’s latest campaign 'Movement that inspires', presenting the all-electric model in a contemporary, fashion-forward visual language. The KIA EV4 represents the brand’s newest generation of fully electric vehicles, combining modern e-mobility with everyday usability, strong range performance and clear urban appeal.

The shoot took place in Poland under persistent rain. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Matthew Jones captured eye-catching imagery that highlights the EV4’s dynamism, sculptural design and technological presence. Rain, reflections and constantly changing light created atmospheric settings that underline the vehicle’s character in real-world conditions.

Production was handled by HotelRebel, with styling by Ricarda Venjacob and post-production by RECOM. The casting was handled by Solomon Winter, who explains: “For this project, we were responsible for the casting and conducted a Europe-wide search to find the right faces and characters for the campaign.” Together, the team delivered a cohesive visual world that emphasizes both the modern aesthetics and the everyday practicality of KIA’s latest electric model.
