For the major dinosaur exhibition ‘Triceratops: The Herd’ at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, Netherlands, Jaap Vliegenthart c/o SEVERIN WENDELER created the key visuals. The exhibition explores the idea of social behavior in dinosaurs, specifically how Triceratops might have lived in herds, similar to human families of today. “We really enjoyed creating these visuals to showcase an exhibit on Triceratops and its social interactions,” says Jaap.
A giant herbivore, Triceratops horridus is an icon of the dinosaur age, with only a handful of fossilized skeletal remains exhibited worldwide. Naturalis is presenting a blockbuster exhibition on Triceratops, featuring five individual specimens, constituting an entire herd. After more than a decade of excavation and preparation, the dinosaurs are now being exhibited together for the first time. The exhibition runs until 31 August 2025 (naturalis.nl).
Jaap has been working in advertising photography for over 30 years. His humor and enthusiasm are contagious, and every one of his images invites a second look. Each concept and client is different, thus requiring a different approach.
