In 2014, Redoute was sold for the symbolic price of one euro to the management team under Nathalie Balla and Eric Courteille. Following a successful repositioning with a streamlined organization and focus on fashion and decoration, Galeries Lafayette acquired 51% of the company in April, 2018.
La Redoute, by the way, translates to place of refuge… The French fashion and mail-order company was already founded in 1837, and in 1956, the line of furnishings was added which is so successful today.
