He&Me : From Sugarloaf Mountain to Montjuïc Mountain. VOLKSWAGEN CUP special edition campaign and catalogue shoot with football star PELE, footballers FC-Bayern’s Thomas Müller and Brazil’s Neymar
FC-Bayern star Thomas Müller and Brazil’s footballer Neymar are promoting the VW 2014 World Cup special editions. From September to November photographer team He&Me were on the road with DDB Tribal Berlin, photographing the new campaign and catalogue for Volkswagen’s CUP special edition. The colourful images are inspired by Brazil’s flag and its sun that never sets.
He&Me flew to Rio de Janeiro with DDB’s Anika Kempkensteffen and producer Dieter Wagner to shoot the backgrounds. Photographer duo Tom and Yona told GoSee, “he was in charge of the entire production and worked with local producers on location”.
Afterwards football mega stars PELÉ, Thomas Müller and Neymar Jr. were photographed in Barcelona. Local production company GoSee Member IMAGENATION took care of the production. Andrea Boessenecker headed the art buying.
He&Me and crew spent the final five production weeks in the South of Spain photographing the 14 cars of CUP special edition series for the campaign and catalogue. As you can clearly see, in keeping with the 2014 World Cup theme, footballs and Brazil were a major leitmotif. Volkswagen has created a range of eleven special edition models accompanied by an advertising claim that reads ‘this year belongs to those that want more”.
