It’s how we talk! – STANLEY’S POST supports STAMMA and international Stammering Awareness Day

STAMMA – It’s how we talk ! International Stammering/Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) takes place each year on 22 October. Stuttering associations, individuals and groups all over the world organize events to celebrate the day and raise awareness for the issue.

The British Stammering Association took the opportunity to present its new campaign which deals with the topic with a humorous approach. The motifs confront us with misconceptions people who stammer experience every day.

“An incredible campaign to be involved in!” says STANLEY’S POST, responsible for the final post production of the motifs.

Key message of the motifs : What someone says is more important that how it is said. Because people who stammer know what they want to say but have difficulty saying it. And stammering does in fact affect around 1% of the population.

Unfortunately, the condition is extremely stigmatized, and stammerers are all too often bullied, excluded from activities and faced with thoughtless reactions. Several studies have actually shown that children and adolescents who stutter are more likely to be bullied than those who do not. It’s not surprising that this can influence their self-esteem well-into adulthood, and inevitably affect their career, social life and emotional well-being.

The executive agency was VLMY&R, and the motifs were photographed by David Vintiner.
