Animals look for a new home far more often than they would like. This is where Animal Welfare Flanders comes in. With the campaign: ‘Tinder for Pets’, photographed by Lieven DIRCKX c/o SEVERIN WENDELER. In front of her camera, among others, was actress Alice Toen and her soul mate, basset hound Philomène. Together, they’re like a dog with two tails. The campaign has been running for a good three years and is still just as heartwarming as ever.
Because animal shelters serve an important purpose, the Flemish government is supporting their work. For example, training for employees has been offered for five years now, and technical support has been available via the website adopteereendier.be since recently.
The Animal Welfare Office deliberately chose this system because it’s more than a website. It’s centered on the administrative management of an animal shelter for which the data of the collected animals is linked to the information on the website. After all, operating an animal shelter professionally entails much more than only caring for the animals. Equally important are proper management and communication in order to maximize the adoption chances for every animal.
