Since 2012, the Wiesbaden-based IFB Foundation has been helping to improve the living conditions of children with disabilities and terminally ill children in South Africa with their initiative Löwenmut. Besides the children’s hospice, there is also an agricultural business that grows produce plus a farm.
Rui CAMILO c/o HAUSER FOTOGRAFEN took a closer look at it on location and brought us this touching reportage back from South Afrika.
“The infrastructure in South Africa is not comparable to that in Germany. For us, it’s normal to see a doctor or go to an info center. But the people with disabilities in the South African townships do not have sufficient suitable options, neither do they have means of transportation or federal support. The handicapped cannot simply go see a doctor or stop by an info center or benefit from early learning support. Which is why we have to go to where the people are in their living environments, consult them and provide the support that they need. That’s the goal of Löwenmut.” explains Wolfgang Groh, Executive Chairman of the IFB Foundation and founder of Löwenmut.
The goal is to improve the living conditions of children with disabilities and terminally ill children in South Africa, including early consultation and early development facilities as well as further services to provide care for children with disabilities. Donations are essential for the hospice because the South African government only covers half of the necessary costs to operate the hospice – so here’s the link for you right here.
