WATCH PHOTOGRAPHY meets SPACESHIP DESIGN — a new series by QUENTIN DÉCAILLET
Swiss photographer Quentin Décaillet unveils a new still life series inspired by space exploration and mechanical design. Shot for an independent watchmaker, the series treats the timepiece as if it were a spacecraft — suspended in light, floating in graphic silence.
Known for his use of chiaroscuro and sculptural light shaping, Quentin Décaillet continues to push his minimalist aesthetic. Here, light isn’t just used to illuminate the object — it defines the architecture of the image, becoming a physical element of the set.
The images were created using a mix of strobe and continuous UV light sources, allowing both the product and its glowing lume to be captured simultaneously, without compositing. The result is a clean, futuristic visual language rooted in photographic precision and tactile realism.
