Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge from the Nandi ethnic group is considered the greatest long-distance runner of his time, and by some even as the GOAT. Kipchoge became World Champion in 2003 – still as a contender in the junior race – in a memorable 5000-meter run. Since 2012, he has been focusing on long-distance road events mainly in the half marathon or marathon disciplines. He won Olympic marathon gold medals in both 2016 and 2021.
In September, 2022, he won the Berlin Marathon for the fourth time and broke his own world record from 2018 with a time of 2:01:09. With his fifth victory in the Berlin Marathon on 24 September, 2023, he is today the sole record holder for the course.
Reason enough for NIKE to pay tribute to this exceptional athlete with a campaign. The photos for the ‘Have a Beautiful Run’ campaign are by Jeremy Soma, and the slightly psychedelic post production, as requested by the client, came from STANLEY’S POST, London : “The client wanted psychedelic dreamscapes with vivid colors, featuring long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge, who just won the Berlin marathon.”
Founded in 2003, STANLEY’S POST is located in London’s Covent Garden. Photography and craft are at the heart of their approach to post production. They pride themselves on close relationships with their clients – an ethos making them a leader in post and print in London : “Our commitment is solution-based and innovative, to help our clients stay ahead.”
