Karolina Pukowiec photographed the RALPH LAUREN RL 888 campaign with model Fei Fei Sun and beautiful Anna Ewers from Germany. The stills campaign and the spot were produced by Tightrope Production and Kitten Production. The setting: Marfa, Texas.
“The Ralph Lauren handbag collection is born from a legacy of Italian craftsmanship and unparalleled leatherwork – where time honored tradition and future-forward innovation meet.” we read on the RALPH LAUREN website.
Ralph Lauren thoughtfully selected Tripel Due, a prominent leather goods manufacturer run by a family of Florentine artisans, to bring his vision of the RL 888 to life.
To create a masterpiece, the bag’s structured silhouette is crafted with the finest Italian box calfskin. Skillfully selected from the roll, 36 pristine pieces are artfully hand-cut. This luxurious leather gives the RL 888 silhouette its sleek shine, smooth texture and structure.
The sculptural RL logo, offered in palladium, brass, or champagne finishes, serves as a dynamic closure featuring an elevated push lock – embodying graceful function within luxurious form. Ultimately, making the RL 888 collection a proclamation in craftsmanship, a story in distinctive details, and a style, a signature, all its own.
The little town of Marfa, with a remarkable population of only 1,788, was named after Marfa Petrowna, a female character in Fyodor Dostojewski’s novel ‘Crime and Punishment’. Marfa gained international fame thanks to minimalist artist Donald Judd, who established the Chinati Foundation art center in the 1970s. Hundreds of miles away from the next town and three hours driving distance from the next airport, Marfa is the perfect place to get away from it all for visitors looking for peace and quiet.
But Marfa enjoyed a moment in the spotlight with yet another creative personality even before Judd : the late actor James Dean. Together with Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson, Dean starred in the classic movie ‘Giant’, which was filmed there in 1956.
In Marfa, there are film and music festivals all year round. The Trans-Pecos Festival for Music and Love takes place at the end of September in El Cosmico, a stomping ground for local musicians and artists, where visitors can stay the night in old Airstream trailers or tents. The Viva Big Bend Music Festival and the Marfa Film Festival both take place in July and attract artists, filmmakers and others from all corners of the globe.
