‘Between the Shadows’ & ‘Shores of Home’ - new work by Erik Johansson c/o Agent Molly & Co on GoSee

Erik JOHANSSON crafts his compositions through the clever combination of various photographic elements and other materials to create surreal scenes. He does use Photoshop but chooses not to use CGI or AI. His exhibition entitled ‘Echo Chambers’ was on display through early 2024 at Fotografiska Stockholm. On 30 May, Leica Gallery in Prague is presenting ‘The Surreal World of Erik Johansson’ including an artists talk.

Here on GoSee, Erik presents us two of his latest works.

Between the Shadows’ – “Finding light in the darkness. Even in the most difficult of situations, there is eventually a glimpse of light, helping us to lead the way through dark times. Illustrated with the help of negative space, where the light birches gradually become the sky and the space between them the trunks, a transition from dark to light. Photographed last summer in Sweden outside of Götene. Shot on the @hasselblad X2D-100c with the XCD 2.5/55V lens and a @profoto B10Xplus 500ws flash with 1/2 CTO gel to create the light that looks like it’s coming from the flashlight. Created using only my own photographs and photoshop, no CGI or AI-generated elements.”

‘Shores of Home’ – “Just as sailors rely on lighthouses to find their way home safely, the lost lighthouse embarks on a personal journey to find a sense of belonging and home in unfamiliar surroundings. To find and establish roots and find stability under challenging circumstances. The search continues… Photographed in Australia and Sweden, two countries very far apart but in many ways also similar. The trees and house are lit by a flash from the position of where the lighthouse is placed. No CGI or AI-generated material was used to create this image, just compositing with Photoshop and my own photographs.”

For commercial commissions, Erik JOHANSSON is represented by AGENT MOLLY & Co.

About AGENT MOLLY & CO
Stockholm-based Agent Molly & Co was founded in 2002 by Molly Karlberg and Sara Sinnby. Right from the start our guiding principles have been focus, ambition and commitment. We enjoy great success representing some of Sweden’s most innovative photographers, illustrators and stylists, working within both the Swedish and international markets whilst focusing primarily on advertising and fashion. Our customers range from large multinational corporations to smaller companies, advertising agencies and magazines.

Each of our artists has their own unique niche, making it easy for our clients to find exactly what they are looking for. As agents, we are involved in the creative process from concept to finished image, thus ensuring that clients aren’t lumbered with bothersome practical details. For our photo shoots we arrange models, hair and make-up, transport, hotels, plus the necessary tecnology and studio - in short everything needed to create the ultimate working conditions for the best possible photo session.

Put simply, our job is to connect the right artist with the right client. That may sound easy, but making the perfect match requires genuine know-how and long experience. Agent Molly & Co strive to continue developing, challenging and aiming high. All for our artists’ and customers’ best.
