In the spirit of journeying together – the close collaboration between Montblanc Creative Director Marco Tomasetta and sports legend Zinédine Zidane comes to life in this new capsule collection. Crafted from leather and high-quality materials, each piece expresses Zidane’s travel style and the duo’s intuitive partnership. The campaign for this curated high-end travel collection was shot by Charlie GRAY c/o LGA MANAGEMENT, with production likewise in the hands of LGA (styling: Bárbara Vélez).
The capsule collection features a distinctive leather duffle bag embossed with the iconic Extreme 3.0 pattern and Montblanc M Lock 4810 and a cabin trolley with a pentagon-shaped tag in reference to the stitching on a soccer ball. Bicolors in black and pewter, leather finishing, and cotton lining add touches of sophistication.
MONTBLANC: “Adored by millions, international sports legend Zinédine Zidane is one of the most celebrated leaders and a high-ranking coach. Zidane combines athletic excellence with an unbeatable dedication to his craft, on and off the field. Living by the motto: ‘What moves you, makes you’, he inspires others to make their mark. Zidane has defied expectations throughout his career, and designing this collection with Marco Tomasetta is no exception. Each piece tells a story and shows what can be achieved when two creative minds come together.”
Charlie Gray is an internationally acclaimed photographer, born in Cambridge, UK. From an early age, he was influenced by his father’s record store, Andy’s Records, and his mother’s work as a vintage fashion dealer, both of which have shaped his aesthetic sensibilities. Gray’s passion for photography blossomed during his university years under the mentorship of Stuart Smith, a notable photographic book publisher. Drawing inspiration from iconic photographers such as Don McCullin and Martin Parr, Gray developed a strong narrative approach in his documentary work.
He later refined his distinct style of portraiture, deeply influenced by the history of cinema. In 2008, Gray was commissioned by BAFTA to document their awards, a pivotal moment that led to collaborations with major movie studios and renowned directors like Jamie Lloyd, Sam Gold, and Ralph Fiennes. His portraits of actors and creatives have appeared in prestigious publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Esquire. In September 2023, Gray showcased his work in a solo exhibition titled ‘Performance’ at the Leica Gallery in London. The exhibition highlighted his unique ability to capture the intimate relationship between photographer and subject, featuring portraits of icons such as Robert De Niro, Ronnie Wood, and Monica Bellucci. Gray is also a proud Leica ambassador.
