‘Good Figure’ – artificial design editorial by still life photographer Tim SONNTAG c/o JULIA WALDMANN for ZEIT Magazin
JULIA WALDMANN is delighted to welcome Berlin-based photographer and AD Tim SONNTAG whose work is focused on still lifes, portraits, and fashion. Tim studied under international fine art photographer and GoSee Girlfriend Jessica Backhaus at the Ostkreuz School of Photography in Berlin. In 2016, he was the co-founder of büro bungalow, where he worked as creative director until December 2023. At the moment, he is working as a freelance photographer and art director.
To kick things off, we present you his editorial ‘Good Figure’ for ZEIT Magazin, for which he staged classic board games with the matching furniture. Styling was in the hands of Amelie Apel, with set design by Pelin Gebhard. Photo Editor: Melina Carstens.
“Zeit Magazin asked me to capture a few board game classics paired with playful interior for their Designheft. Feeling honored to have been able to work on this editorial, combining four things I dearly love: beautiful light, interior, games and a good read,” the photographer tells us.
“Capturing still lifes is at the heart of my photography practice. To me, it’s about more than just taking a picture – it’s about crafting an idea into a tangible image. I often liken it to the work of an architect, piecing together disparate elements to create something entirely new guided by my art direction. It’s the process of transforming my artistic vision into captivating visual narratives.”
