Geometric Elegance : PER APPELGREN stages ‘SHADES & SHAPES’ for SICKY MAG
The visual language of fashion photographer PER APPELGREN is marked by a minimalist aesthetic, for which shapes and silhouettes play a significant role. The same, of course, can be said of his new ‘Shades & Shapes’ editorial – in which he uses an interplay of light and shadow to create stronger contrasts that accentuate the contours of the fashion as well as model Sara Robaskiewicz c/o Uncover. Styling was taken care of by Jana Kapounova with beauty support from visagist Helena Narra (Light: Liam Mulligan, Digi Op: Lena Kraemer). The shoot took place at Meta Studio Berlin.
Per often takes an architectural approach to his photography, for which geometric forms, shapes and lines set the tone of the composition. He likes to work with simple backgrounds, bringing the subjects depicted – whether clothing, accessories, or even the model – more to the fore.
