The cover story in VOGUE ITALIA (January ‘22) presents Paralympic athlete Veronica Yoko as a heroic beauty and takes a stand against immaculate appearance and the fashion industry, as well as in favor of body diversity. The Italian athlete was staged for it by Korean photographer Cho Gi-Seok in surreal settings, and hairstyling was in the hands of Olivier SCHAWALDER c/o les ARTISTS by Josef Stockinger.
“It is something that I always try to express in my work, trying to keep the human and the technological, the modern and the ancient, the East and the West, the fantastic and the real, everything in the same image,” says Cho Gi-Seok about the cooperation with Veronica Yoko Plebani. The fascinating works by the photographer were recently on display in a solo exhibition in Fotografiska New York.
