In Johnnie Walker's latest collaboration, haute couture meets the art of blending. Arguably the most progressive couture designer of our time, Balmain's Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, and Master Blender Emma Walker presented a designer whisky collection at the opening of the Johnnie Walker Vault, celebrating the mastery of Johnnie Walker's blending skills.
Celebrated French Creative Director Olivier Rousteing was invited to the Johnnie Walker Vault as the first cultural collaborator. Couture Expression is the first release in a two-part collaboration and features four couture blends inspired by a sensual journey through the seasons. The event was produced by 360 PM in close cooperation with LS Productions.
"Johnnie Walker Vault is allowing us to make our mark on the world of luxury spirits in an exciting new way, as well as opening the door to a new era of progress for the brand. Through colliding the blending artistry of Dr Emma Walker with the creative genius of Olivier Rousteing we are pushing the boundaries of what a luxury Scotch whiskey can look, taste and feel like." Julie Bramham, Managing Director of Diageo Luxury Group.
"This has been an emotional journey. What started as a collaboration to create one special release became a creative exploration of four seasons, just like a couture collection. For me, the seasons bring different energy and emotions - the feeling of rebirth in Spring, the hazy freedom of Summer, the self-reflection of Fall and the coziness of home and family in Winter - that Emma so beautifully captured in the collection." Olivier Rousteing, designer.
To celebrate the collaboration and the release of Johnnie Walker Vault x Olivier Rousteing Couture Expression, an exclusive launch event took place in New York City on May 3. Johnnie Walker Vault x Olivier Rousteing Couture Expression was launched worldwide on May 26. Only 25 bottles of each season are available worldwide. Suggested retail price: $20,000.
The French couturier Olivier Rousteing became head designer of the Parisian fashion house Balmain in 2011 at just 25 years old. Thanks to his strong social media presence, especially Instagram, he established Balmain as one of the most recognized French fashion houses online, alongside Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
