Embrace the new, off the beaten track : Dresdner Musikfestspiele, or Dresden Music Festival, ventures into a visionary year of discovery themed upon ‘HORIZONS’. For its 47th festival season taking place from 9 May to 9 June, 2024, Artistic Director Jan Vogler invites visitors to open their minds and explore new horizons with a program chock full of events.

With 25 debuts as well as four world premieres in total, the Dresden Music Festival 2024 is once again of enormous innovative appeal – as one of the largest and most renowned classic music festivals in Europe presenting a top-notch program of extraordinary depth and variety.
The internationally acclaimed concert cellist Jan Vogler has extended his contract with the state capital of Dresden until 2026. In 2009, he took the position of Artistic Director of the festival, founded in 1978, and has since endeavored to establish it as one of the most significant of its kind on the continent. From 2009 to 2019, the Festival’s revenue from ticket sales and funds from sponsors have increased fivefold.
“I am looking forward to one of the most colorful years since the festival was founded,” says Jan Vogler, Director of the Dresden Music Festival.
The Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden with around 700 exhibited masterpieces from the 15th to 18th century is among the most renowned collections of paintings in the world. The museum is focused mainly on works of the Italian Renaissance alongside Dutch and Flemish masters of the 17th century. On display are outstanding works by traditional German and traditional Dutch painters. The Picture Gallery is part of the Dresden State Art Collections. It is located in the Semper Gallery of the Zwinger Palace and attracts more than half a million visitors each year.
