Among the big discoveries at the GoSeeAWARDS was certainly photographer Hana Knížová. The Czech native studied photography at the London College of Communication. The adversities and hopes of youth, interpersonal relations, intimacy, family bonds... these are the topics she masterfully captures in her sensitive photos. And the quality of her work did not go unnoticed: She has won, for instance, the John Kobal New Work Award in 2013 of the National Portrait Gallery in London as well as Photographer of the Year at Czech Grand Design in 2019.
Hana Knížová on the works submitted by her to the GoSeeAWARDS : “The submitted images are a brief cut through my work, and they come from various projects. Some are individual portraits, and some are part of larger series. I have worked with people from quite opposite backgrounds – from very privileged to socially deprived, and both were an incredible experience. The use of strong colors and repetitiveness plays a major role in my aesthetics.”
