People Wear Organic GmbH is a company with close ties to Alnatura and was founded by Götz E. Rehn as a spin-off of Alnatura Produktions- und Handels GmbH. The company is headquartered at Alnatura’s Working World business complex in the southwest of Darmstadt. As a pioneer in the sustainable textile industry looking back on more than 25 years of experience, they develop certified organic textiles of the finest quality for the brands People Wear Organic and biobaby.

PEOPLE WEAR ORGANIC : “With each of our collections, we demonstrate that it is indeed possible to develop and produce contemporary fashion that is just as stylish and comfortable to wear as conventional fashion collections using natural fibers while taking responsibility for humankind and the environment. To achieve this, fairness and transparency are the bedrock of our daily business throughout the textile supply chain.
It is of utmost importance to us that the inherent risks in the textile industry, as outlined in the OECD guidelines, are mitigated through compliance with international standards throughout the entire supply chain. GOTS certification ensures that an independent annual assessment of the aforementioned risks is conducted in each stage of the textile supply chain. The cotton used is subject to similar strict selection criteria: only organic cotton grown without the use of pesticides is sourced by People Wear Organic and mainly from collectives.
The living conditions of farmers who grow the cotton and their families are of particular importance to us. Which is why we support various farming projects and cooperatives. We work with a small number of carefully selected manufacturers in long-term partnerships based on mutual trust. We like to visit the production facilities of our partners personally from time to time. This enables us to talk with the people who work there and see the working conditions first hand.
It is important to us that the wages employees are paid are sufficient to afford a living for them and their families. It is of further importance to us that our manufacturing partners guarantee regular working hours for their employees. Which is why we ensure our partners can rely on predictable capacities and therefore calculate accurately. We plan our collections well in advance together with our partners. This also helps promote permanent employment and the payment of fair wages.”
