A highlight of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is certainly Saatchi & Saatchi’s annual New Creators’ Showcase. On Thursday, 20 June, Franki Goodwin, Chief Creative Officer Saatchi & Saatchi UK, presented the global talent chosen for the 2024 New Creators’ Showcase. “Judging the Film category in Cannes alongside the NCS submissions this year has been fascinating and a timely reminder of just how hard it is to succeed in the medium. Congratulations to all of the filmmakers on the reel for doing so in such exceptional and diverse ways. I look forward to continuing our commitment to finding opportunities across our network for all of our alumni and bringing their craft and vision to jury rooms of the future.”
Featured were 12 short films, commercials, animations and music videos by talent from the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Australia. Here on GoSee, we present you our personal highlight as an opener, the AI short film ‘Nigerian Prince’ by Jose Hernandez and Victor Morón.
Jose and Víctor have worked together for a decade at agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi London, 180 Amsterdam, and Ogilvy Amsterdam. Jose is an art director, graphic designer, and documentary photographer who works for Vogue, ELLE, and VICE, and also knows a thing or two about AI. Víctor works as a copywriter for start-ups and is co-founder of REBO, a reusable smart bottle, in collaboration with adidas. Together, they create high-quality AI images, films and music with the goal of building a world without prejudice.
Celine van Heel discovered photography three years ago thanks to her 92-year-old grandfather, for whom she created an Instagram account named ‘The Spanish King’. He became her first model and muse, inspiring her to take this career path. He taught her that age can’t stop creativity and that wrinkles are beautiful. She loves capturing extravagant motifs: for her, more is more – and color is her religion.

Beyond dedicating its platform at Cannes to promoting and networking up-and-coming creatives, Saatchi’s New Creators’ Showcase also offers new talent direct funding and employment opportunities.
As part of an existing partnership with Channel 4 in the UK, one of this year’s creators will have a short film commissioned, funded and screened through Random Acts. What’s more, Saatchi & Saatchi have reaffirmed their commitment to giving all shortlisted talent the opportunity to collaborate with the agency and its partners, with the support of clients such as John Lewis, Waitrose, EE, and the British Heart Foundation. Creators from last year had the chance to work on Saatchi & Saatchi projects for brands including Nivea and Deutsche Telekom.
