Pascal KEROUCHE c/o BIRGIT STÖVER got the chance last year to accompany the film shoot of the coming-of-age and crime film ‘Sun and Concrete’ by David Falko Wnendt with his camera. It is the film adaptation of the autobiographically inspired bestseller of the same name by Felix Lobrecht.
The German film director and screenplay writer David Falko Wnendt became known across Germany with his multiple award-winning feature film ‘Female Warrior’ as well as the filmed bestseller ‘Wetlands’, which brought a million movie-goers to the box office.
We read about the film ‘Sun and Concrete’ : Lukas, Julius, Gino and Sanchez are bored with the dull Berlin summer. Besides school, it seems to only have drugs and fights in store for them. But then Sanchez comes up with a risky and momentous idea : He found out that his school was awaiting a delivery of new computers that sounds like easy money. While planning the theft, the boys, however, have more and more doubts about whether they are even ready to pull it off…
The film is based on the autobiographically inspired bestseller ‘Sun and Concrete’ written by Felix Lobrecht and published by Ullstein in 2017. The stand-up comedian born in 1988 grew up with two siblings living with his single parent father in Berlin-Neukölln and received the German Comedy Prize in 2020 and 2021. We present a small selection of Pascal’s motifs here.
