Markus Mueller : in Franconia’s idyll for the new HUK-Coburg campaign, in hot pursuit in the jungle for EVEREST POKER and in Switzerland for MIGROS
Impressive architecture, deep forests and exotic languages – you’d be surprised by just how much Bavaria and Thailand have in common. In his most recent shoot photographer MARKUS MUELLER enjoyed the best of both worlds. He joined forces with Reinsclassen creatives Helena Linow and Amorim Ribeiro to capture Franconia’s most beautiful spots in a series of images for HUK-Coburg insurance. Mountains, lakes, castles and old towns – HUK- Coburg’s new campaign images make us wish we were in Franconia’s idyll.
Afterwards he moved on from taking pictures of tranquil spots, hitting the Thai jungle for EVEREST POKER and Paris based agency Monsieur White. Everest Poker’s new app provides users with a set of kings wherever they maybe. Markus Mueller’s team took the whole thing very literally and staged a wild jungle chase in Bangkok’s surroundings. The photos are pumped with the adrenalin that comes from shooting surrounded by elephants, good food and stunning natural features.
He got to cool down on an additional production in Switzerland – which has practically become a second home for Markus Mueller. For this shoot he photographed a marathon in wintery Zurich for MIGROS and MASTERCARD. Wim Roelfs and Marvin Hugentobler from Publicis Zurich joined him on set.

About MARKUS MUELLER
Like few other photographers Markus Mueller knows how to use visual means – depth in particular – to create places that invite discovery. Throughout his work he rejects the obvious and embraces the freely associative.
Markus Mueller's path to photography was preceded by a detour through the humanities. He began a degree program in history and political science in his hometown of Dresden, but while slogging through dreary texts he discovered his love of images, and decided to leave university and concentrate on photography instead. He first worked as a photographer’s assistant, and later enrolled at Berlin’s Lette Verein school, earning his diploma in 2003. Since then he has lived and worked in Germany’s capital, where his office is now based.
In addition to his art photography, Markus Mueller is known for his sophisticated work in advertising and is an internationally sought-after photographer for clients such as Adidas, Volkswagen, Land Rover, O2, Hornbach, Mercedes-Benz and Panasonic. Even in his commercial projects, Markus Mueller eschews the functional and instrumental and seeks to create timeless, enduring images. He has received numerous awards for his work, including a Clio Award, an Epica Award and a WPPED Cream Award as well as prizes from ADC Germany, ADC Europe, Cannes Lions and D&AD London.
