GoSee welcomes new entry Markus Mueller, who specialises in people, lifestyle and advertising photography. A strong visual language distinguishes the advertising photographer’s work.
Born in Dresden, 1976, he studied History and Politics before switching to Photography and assisting various photographers. Markus studied at the Lette-Verein in Berlin, where he graduated in 2003. He has worked and lived in Berlin since 2004 and has received countless awards since.
Markus MUELLER’s images for HDI and Deepblue Networks were recently released. These were produced on a 12-day shoot in and around Cape Town with support from CAPETOWN-PRODUCTIONS. The supervising agency was Deepblue Networks, Hamburg. CD Oliver Drost and AD Oliver Reichwald were in charge of creation, Katja Czok and Tanja Kreyenhagen took care of the art buying.
‘No one feels it like you’ is the catchphrase of the 2012 campaign developed by Heimat advertising agency, which focuses on the emotional aspects of DIY. The success of the ‘rip’ print image, which has won awards including one from the ADC, is to be followed by the next visual collaboration between Markus Mueller and Heimat advertising agency, Berlin.
The slogan ‘and now it’s your turn’ accompanies the current Hornbach summer campaign, which is being promoted as city light posters, print ads, online and PoS advertising. It covers the completion of various DIY projects, from garden chessboards to monumental constructions. Susanna Fill and Martijn Koster are the creatives behind the campaign. Adriana Santo Tomas was in charge of art buying.
And even if Markus Mueller isn’t a classic still life photographer, he carried out a recent shoot for MIGROS without people. He shot countless images for the current receipt campaign for Swiss supermarket chain MIGROS. Here are a couple of appetisers. The agency was Jung v. Matt in Zürich (Art Buyer: Deborah Herzig).
Background: as part of the launch of the new MIGROS brand group campaign, six other campaigns have been ‘poster tagged’ and comment on the images in the usual Migros tongue in cheek style. HORNBACH is one of the campaigns to take part… Art Direction by Daniel Serrano.

About MARKUS MUELLER
Like few other photographers Markus Mueller knows how to use visual means – depth in particular – to create places that invite discovery. Throughout his work he rejects the obvious and embraces the freely associative.
Markus Mueller's path to photography was preceded by a detour through the humanities. He began a degree program in history and political science in his hometown of Dresden, but while slogging through dreary texts he discovered his love of images, and decided to leave university and concentrate on photography instead. He first worked as a photographer’s assistant, and later enrolled at Berlin’s Lette Verein school, earning his diploma in 2003. Since then he has lived and worked in Germany’s capital, where his office is now based.
In addition to his art photography, Markus Mueller is known for his sophisticated work in advertising and is an internationally sought-after photographer for clients such as Adidas, Volkswagen, Land Rover, O2, Hornbach, Mercedes-Benz and Panasonic. Even in his commercial projects, Markus Mueller eschews the functional and instrumental and seeks to create timeless, enduring images. He has received numerous awards for his work, including a Clio Award, an Epica Award and a WPPED Cream Award as well as prizes from ADC Germany, ADC Europe, Cannes Lions and D&AD London.
