Generative AI cannot replace human creativity but can at best expand it and inspire new avenues of human self-expression. Let's harness this tool, for we hold it in our hands... As visual beings, we recognize that the depiction of reality through an image is always incomplete. Even with the most careful selection of the image's frame, it can never fully capture the complexity and multilayered nature of reality. Rather, the image itself is a product of subjective perception – an interpretation colored by the personal experiences, emotions, and perspectives of the viewer. Similarly, we don't just perceive the image, but we perceive the entire world through the lens of our individual reality. Our thoughts, the way we interpret our perceptions, the stories we tell ourselves, as well as our fears and hopes, shape and mold our own reality. This reality is a unique construct that varies from person to person and is influenced by a multitude of factors – from our upbringing and cultural backgrounds to our personal beliefs and values. Yet even within this individual reality, there exists a layer of subjectivity. Our thoughts and beliefs can change over time, new experiences can broaden our understanding of the world, and our perception can be influenced. What was once seen as an indisputable truth yesterday may be viewed in a new light today. The concept of an "unreal reality" may seem paradoxical, but it reflects the complex nature of our human experience. We live in a world filtered through our individual lenses, and yet we are simultaneously part of a larger whole – a collective reality shaped by the interaction and interplay of all individuals. In this sense, reality is not something absolute or immutable but rather a dynamic and ever-evolving construct that is always open to new perspectives and interpretations. In the course of my own exploration of the possibilities of generative AI, I use as a foundation only image material that I have personally photographed. The works shown here are composed of approximately 30% AI, 30% traditional nature and landscape photography, 30% composition and creative retouching, and 10% inspiration. This portfolio is constantly being expanded with new works from our in-house laboratory. Our reality is often an illusion, shaped by subjective perceptions, interpretations, and emotions. Images can only capture this reality fragmentarily, yet they significantly influence our perception of the world around us. The series "Unreal Reality" explores the boundaries between reality and fiction by utilizing the capabilities of generative AI to create new visual landscapes. These landscapes contain elements of reality but are also permeated by a surreal atmosphere that invites the viewer to question and reflect upon their own perception of the world.
