The sustainable Cologne fashion label Armedangels has been using the first AI applications since December 2023 to reduce costs and save CO2. On Handelsblatt we read: “Armedangels analyzes the order and returns figures with the help of an AI. It recognizes patterns in the data better than a human analyst and can therefore assess more accurately which colors and sizes are selling less well. Co-founder and CEO Martin Höfeler wants to reduce annual production by “more than 40,000 items” and thus save up to 324,000 CO2 emissions.”

Unlike most fashion manufacturers, Armedangels does not produce in Asia, but in Tunisia, Turkey and Portugal. The declared aim is to only produce what is actually sold. The online retailers Shein and Temu could be a role model for this: they use AI and a digitalized supply chain and only ramp up production when there is sufficient demand....
